Mobile infrastructure market is undergoing transition as a result of a number of technological advancements. With data traffic reaching great heights, telecom operators are concentrating on deploying or upgrading existing 2G and 3G infrastructures, and testing and deploying 4G infrastructure. The major trends that have been observed is the coexistence of 2G and 3G, entry of market participants such as ZTE and Huawei from Asia, network sharing and introduction of small cells. With limited CAPEX available and competition from Asian companies, the major challenge lies in effective utilisation of the existing network and spectrum resources. This calls for innovative product lines and methods from telecom equipment vendors.
